Electrical properties of melt-mixed polypropylene and as-grown carbon nanofiber composites: Analysis of their interphase <i>via</i> the AC conductivity modeling

The morphology, crystallinity, and electrical conductivity (σ′ σ″) as a function of frequency polypropylene (PP) melt-extruded with different amounts as-grown carbon nanofibers (CNFs) from 0 to 1.4 vol. % are examined. PP/CNF composites present CNF aggregates randomly distributed within the PP an insulator–conductor transition at contents near 0.9 %. degree crystallinity loadings increases ∼15% respect neat (∼34%), σ´ ∼ 8.6 × 10 −5 S m −1 (σ″ 8.3 −4 ) 2 MHz. In addition, values σ int ´ ∼2.9 −6 (σ ″∼3.7 MHz, result interphase (ϕ ∼0.05 %) composites, estimated by use modified generalized effective medium model (GEM). analysis gathered in here indicates that between polymer conducting particle may have quantifiable effect on properties carbon-based this fact should not be neglected production (CPCs) enhanced properties.
